７９年前の今日、1941年12月7日。
大日本帝国 (当時) はアメリカ合衆国に宣戦布告をし、真珠湾を攻撃した。
日本軍は航空母艦６隻からなる航空戦力を中心とした艦隊。
艦載機約350機を投入。少数ながら、特殊潜航艇も攻撃に加わった。

これは対アメリカ戦だけでなく、ヨーロッパの国も含まれた。
自分たちの国益を阻害し世界での台頭を見せる日本。
その存在は既に疎ましく、自分たちが植民地支配しているアジア諸国へ
影響が及べば、政治的にも経済的にもダメージは大きい。
ある意味、この国々がアメリカ合衆国を対日戦へと誘導したとも言える。
元々同国は、大日本帝国との戦争に消極的だった筈だ。
ヨーロッパ戦に於いても、当初積極的な参戦を考えていたとは思えない。
無礼な表現かもしれないが、アメリカ合衆国は世界情勢をそれぞれの立場
に自らを置き換え、国益優先で様子を見ていたようにも感じる。
当然ながら大日本帝国に対して良い印象は持ってないし
欧州との関係が重要だったのは間違いない。
何より、時の大統領は大日本帝国が嫌いだった。
これらの背景を詳しく述べると相当量になるので、以降割愛する。
はっきり言える事。現代の日本人が認識している歴史観念の誤り。
